📄 Abstract(原文)
Green finance is a new type of financing that helps connect investments with increased sustainability by addressing challenging environmental issues including climate change, biodiversity loss, and natural resources. Green finance helps accelerate climate-resilient development and low-carbon adaptation, through a variety of assets and instruments including green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, ESG-compliant funds, or other mechanisms which finance projects for their measurable positive environmental performance. Green finance is gaining global momentum, and in 2023, green bond issuances reached an all-time high of USD 547 billion across multiple jurisdictions, building cumulative issuances to more than USD 2.5 trillion. India is joining the trend. In 2023, India issued green bonds worth more than USD 10.9 billion that support renewable energy, smart cities, clean transport, and waste management (RBI, 2024). The Government of India also issued its first sovereign green bond for INR 16,000 crore in FY 2023-24 which earmarked debt for projects in solar energy, green hydrogen, and energy efficiency. Our finding illustrated that green finance is increasingly part of India’s sustainable development strategy. This study looks at how green finance promotes sustainability through support for renewable energy transition; green infrastructure; climate change adaptation; and participative environmental governance. It evaluates the regulatory framework at the state level, the market models driven by the private sector, and international partnerships and collaboration which influence its expansion and climate change agenda. It will also assess ESG frameworks, disclosure practices, and reliance of businesses and banks on green financing alternatives. Based on international datasets, regulatory reviews, and academic literature, the study assesses the contribution of green finance to helping meet India’s Net Zero 2070 target and also helping to achieve these SDGs 7, 9 and 13 with a view to drawing appropriate recommendations for its promotion.
