日本のGX文脈において

本論文は南チロル地域の事例だが、日本の地域産業脱炭素化計画にも応用可能なデータ構築手法と技術評価のフレームワークを提供する。特に中小企業集積地域でのボトムアップアプローチの参考になる。

In the global GX context

This paper provides a replicable methodology for constructing industrial emissions databases at subnational levels using publicly available data, relevant for regions implementing EU's Fit for 55 or similar climate policies. It demonstrates integration of techno-economic analysis with regional energy system modeling for sector-coupled decarbonization planning.

👥 読者別の含意

🔬研究者:The open-source database and disaggregation methodology can be adapted for other regions, while the integrated modeling approach offers a template for multi-sector decarbonization analysis.

🏢実務担当者:Useful for regional energy planners and industrial associations to identify cost-effective decarbonization levers for specific sectors and temperature levels.

🏛政策担当者:Illustrates how granular industrial data can underpin evidence-based regional climate targets and support infrastructure investments.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Pioneering Green Energy: Decarbonization Pathways for South Tyrol's Industrial Sector RT3A.01 INEST Project, conducted by EURAC Research. The work develops an open-source industrial energy and emissions database for South Tyrol (Italy), built through a novel top-down disaggregation methodology spanning from national (NUTS-0) to municipal (NUTS-3) level, using publicly available data sources (EU-ETS, EUROSTAT, JRC, INEMAR). The database covers energy consumption and CO₂-equivalent emissions across four main energy-intensive industrial sectors, broken down by energy carrier, process temperature, and emission type. Building on this database, the project evaluates techno-economic decarbonization options, including industrial heat pumps, electric furnaces, green hydrogen, e-methanol, and carbon capture (CCUS), and integrates them into a regional energy system model (EnergyPLAN + EPLANopt) to optimize sector-coupled decarbonization pathways toward South Tyrol's climate targets for 2030, 2037, and 2040. The repository supports the findings published in Zazzera et al. (2025, Data in Brief, DOI: 10.1016/j.dib.2025.111365) and a companion study submitted to Energy (Misconel et al., 2026, under review). The report was developed as part of the activities carried out by Spoke 1, Research Topic 3 (Decentralisation of Mountain Structures and Infrastructures: Energy and Logistic Strategies). This research was funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU, in the framework of the iNEST - Interconnected Nord-Est Innovation Ecosystem (iNEST ECS00000043 – CUP D43C22001380006).
