📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
Directly informs ISSB/CSRD Scope 3 disclosure debates and the design of CBAM-style mechanisms by evidencing emissions leakage and the limits of first-tier engagement. It strengthens the case for harmonized international carbon accounting standards in corporate reporting frameworks.

📄 Abstract(原文)
This study assesses the carbon footprint of global supply chains within manufacturing industries, examining emissions embedded in raw material sourcing, intermediate production, logistics, and final assembly. Using multi-regional input-output analysis combined with facility-level emissions data, we quantify scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions across major manufacturing sectors and trace their geographic distribution across supplier tiers. Our results reveal substantial emissions leakage to lower-regulation jurisdictions and highlight hotspots where upstream suppliers contribute disproportionately to a product's total carbon footprint. We evaluate the effectiveness of corporate decarbonization commitments and supply chain transparency initiatives in reducing embedded emissions, finding that first-tier supplier engagement alone is insufficient without deeper-tier visibility. The findings underscore the need for harmonized carbon accounting standards across international supply chains and point to targeted intervention strategies, including supplier diversification, low-carbon material substitution, and logistics optimization. We conclude by discussing policy implications for carbon border adjustment mechanisms and corporate reporting frameworks.
