📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

日本のGX文脈において

日本では農業分野における炭素貯留が注目されており、J-クレジット制度との連携も進んでいます。本用語集は、国内の炭素農耕実践や研究における用語統一に貢献し、国際的な議論との整合性を高める基盤となります。

In the global GX context

Carbon farming terminology is currently fragmented. This glossary provides a harmonized reference for consistent reporting under voluntary carbon markets and national inventories, supporting global efforts in agricultural decarbonization.

📄 Abstract(原文)

The field of carbon farming is a rapidly evolving domain characterized by its complexity and the challenges associated with establishing a shared, consensual vocabulary. Terms often hold different meanings for different stakeholders, and conversely, various terminologies may be used to describe the same concept. Moreover, consensus on the definitions behind certain terms is sometimes entirely absent. In MARVIC, the need for a glossary quickly emerged to address these challenges and clarify the use of terms across multidisciplinary fields in carbon farming. This glossary was developed collaboratively by consortium members to align on key terms and concepts. It is a living document, updated as the field evolves, and primarily serves communication among project partners (MARVIC Glossary v1.0). The MARVIC Glossary v2.0 is publicly open to support broader efforts around carbon farming terminology. A user friendly glossary will be available on the website of MARVIC in a later phase: https://www.project-marvic.eu/ The development process involved a literature review to identify existing definitions from official sources, which were then presented to the consortium for review when available. For terms without existing official definitions, the consortium discussed the identified concepts collaboratively, and added final, agreed-upon versions to the glossary. These definitions provide guidance for the consistent use of terminology in project reports and communications. Accordingly, the glossary cites either the consortium or an external source, depending on the origin of the definition. To ensure ease of navigation, the glossary terms are grouped by the project's work packages (WPs) and categorized by thematic relevance, rather than listed alphabetically. Given the vast scope of carbon farming, this categorization was deemed more practical, with distinct categories such as practices, quantification, modelling, and certification, among others. By consolidating and standardizing terminology, the MARVIC glossary supports a shared understanding within the consortium and lays the groundwork for improved communication and knowledge dissemination in the broader carbon farming community. This v1.0 version contains the modelling theme, i.e. definitions related to the development and use of models, and is currently under restricted access. However, the updated version, which will include additional themes and be published with open access. The glossary will also be made available on the MARVIC website: https://www.project-marvic.eu/
