As global digital infrastructure expands rapidly, data centers now account for approximately 1–2% of the world's total electricity consumption, a figure projected to rise significantly by 2030. Traditional data center architectures, built on fossil fuel-powered grids and inefficient cooling systems, are no longer tenable from an environmental or economic standpoint. This paper presents the Green Data Center Framework (GDCF), a holistic model integrating renewable energy sources, advanced thermal management strategies, and AI-driven resource optimization. The proposed framework achieves a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.2 against an industry average of 1.8, a 75% renewable energy coverage rate, and a 50% reduction in server-level energy consumption. Three operational pilot sites validate these results across diverse climatic conditions, with an average Return on Investment (ROI) realized within 3 years. The paper further identifies implementation barriers including capital costs, energy intermittency, and infrastructure scalability, while proposing policy and technical pathways to democratize green data center adoption globally.
