📄 Abstract（原文）
The objective of this paper is to identify the conditions that would enable West African countries to reconcile sustainable industrialisation with environmental sustainability. To this end, we analyse panel data collected from 2000 to 2024 for 12 West African countries that are members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), using the System Generalised Method of Moments (System GMM) estimator. The results show that industrial development has a statistically significant positive effect on greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change. Based on these findings, we recommend that West African industrial development policies incorporate environmental standards and provisions aimed at combating climate change. This approach should promote low-carbon industrial development based on renewable energy sources and green technologies
