📄 Abstract(原文)
Abstract The transition to sustainable energy systems has positioned solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies at the forefront of global decarbonization efforts. However, while conventional silicon-based PV dominates current deployment, emerging technologies such as perovskite solar cells present new opportunities for improving efficiency, reducing costs, and expanding energy access particularly in developing economies like Nigeria. This paper examines the opportunities for perovskite solar cell manufacturing in Nigeria within the broader context of sustainable energy development and industrial growth. The study identifies key challenges in Nigeria's energy sector and outlines the concept of perovskite technologies, including low-cost and low-temperature manufacturing processes, reduced barriers to industrial entry, and compatibility with flexible and lightweight applications. These characteristics make perovskite solar cells particularly suitable for decentralized energy systems, which are critical for addressing Nigeria's persistent energy access deficit. Furthermore, the potential for local raw material utilization and the development of domestic value chains offers a pathway for reducing dependence on imported PV technologies, enhancing energy security, and conserving foreign exchange. Beyond technical and economic benefits, the paper highlights the significant role of perovskite manufacturing in driving job creation, fostering innovation, and supporting industrial diversification. Opportunities for research collaboration and capacity building are also emphasized, given the evolving nature of the technology. In addition, the alignment of perovskite solar systems with circular economy principles presents an avenue for addressing long-term sustainability challenges associated with conventional PV technologies, particularly in areas such as recycling and end-of-life management.
