English

Sports venues require operation-oriented decarbonization beyond isolated equipment replacement. This study proposes an integrated framework combining green technologies, smart energy management, and climate-responsive strategies, applied to Shaanxi Province, China, with regional packages and a five-dimensional performance system. Lacking field data, it offers a transferable method for auditable operational governance.

In the global GX context

Globally, sports venues are increasingly under pressure to meet net-zero targets. This framework provides a structured approach to operational decarbonization, integrating energy management and performance verification, which aligns with international disclosure and reporting standards.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Sports venues combine large enclosed volumes, intermittent occupancy, event-driven peak loads, complex building services and strict safety and comfort requirements. These characteristics limit isolated equipment replacement and require operation-oriented decarbonization. This study develops an integrated framework connecting green technologies, smart energy management, climate-responsive selection and performance verification. Shaanxi Province, China, is used as the regional application context because it contains marked differences in heating demand, humidity, solar exposure, air quality and operational risk. The evidence-informed method comprised policy and standards review, synthesis of peer-reviewed stadium and public-building research, systems decomposition, comparison of operating practices and multi-criteria framework construction. The resulting framework contains four mutually reinforcing pillars and a diagnose-decide-execute-verify-improve loop. It specifies a five-layer architecture linking sensing, data governance, BIM and energy models, decision support, and equipment or human execution. Differentiated packages are proposed for Guanzhong, Northern Shaanxi and Southern Shaanxi. A five-dimensional performance system integrates energy, carbon, management, service quality and life-cycle cost, while a measurement and verification protocol separates adjusted baseline energy from post-retrofit consumption. A four-stage roadmap and venue-specific planning template translate the framework into implementation. The principal contribution is a transferable method for moving sports-venue decarbonization from technology lists to auditable operational governance. Because no continuous submetered field dataset was available, representative venues should validate the framework over at least one complete operating cycle.
