English
This study examines whether building-sector CO₂ emissions respond to the adoption of emissions trading systems (ETSs) and carbon taxes across 190 economies from 1990 to 2024. Using staggered difference-in-differences, dynamic ATTGTs, and joint ETS/carbon-tax models, it analyzes development-stage heterogeneity. The replication package provides the dataset and Stata code to support transparency and further research on carbon pricing and building decarbonization.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
As global carbon-pricing mechanisms expand under the Paris Agreement, this cross-country study provides empirical evidence on how building-sector emissions respond to ETSs and carbon taxes. It contributes to the disclosure and policy literature by quantifying policy effectiveness across development stages, relevant to ISSB/TCFD-aligned transition planning.

📄 Abstract(原文)
This dataset provides the replication materials for the study “Beyond Regulatory Boundaries: Building-Sector CO₂ Responses to Carbon-Pricing Adoption across 190 Economies.” The study examines whether building-sector CO₂ emissions respond following the adoption of emissions trading systems (ETSs) and carbon taxes across 190 economies over the period 1990–2024. The replication package includes the analysis dataset and Stata code used to generate the empirical results reported in the manuscript, including the baseline staggered difference-in-differences estimations, nonlinear development specifications, joint ETS and carbon-tax models, placebo tests, development-stage heterogeneity analysis, and dynamic group-time average treatment effects (ATTGTs). The dataset contains building-sector CO₂ emissions, carbon-pricing adoption indicators, and the socioeconomic and energy-related variables used in the empirical analysis. Carbon-pricing policy information is compiled from the World Bank’s State and Trends of Carbon Pricing reports, while socioeconomic, energy, and emissions variables are drawn from publicly available World Bank sources. The variables and empirical specifications are documented in the accompanying manuscript and replication files. These materials are provided to facilitate transparency, reproducibility, and further research on carbon pricing, building-sector decarbonization, and cross-boundary climate-policy responses.
