Aluminum is viewed as a cornerstone of the global low-carbon transition, enabling renewable energy technologies, sustainable mobility, and green construction. However, the environmental and social risks associated with aluminum's global supply chain from bauxite mining in Africa to energy-intensive smelting demand stronger ethical sourcing strategies. This chapter examines the role of Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA), one of the UAE's largest industrial companies, in advancing responsible aluminum production. It situates EGA within global ethical sourcing frameworks while exploring the UAE's Net Zero 2050 commitments, COP28 pledges, and ESG regulations. EGA's initiatives in responsible bauxite mining, blockchain-enabled traceability, renewable-powered smelting, and supplier accountability. Conceptual framework developed for responsible aluminum supply chains, identifies challenges and barriers, and provides policy and managerial recommendations for scaling ethical sourcing across heavy industries in emerging economies.
