The Carbon Purification Model (CPM) is a low-cost environmental engineering prototype developed to reduce air pollution through a multi-stage air filtration process.The system uses cotton as a primary filter to trap dust and suspended particles, activated carbon to remove harmful gases and volatile organic compounds through adsorption, and limewater to absorb carbon dioxide by chemical reaction.A Metal Oxide Semiconductor (MQ) Gas Sensor (MQ135) and Arduino Uno microcontroller are used for real-time monitoring of air quality before and after purification.The MQ135 sensor detects gases such as ammonia, benzene, carbon dioxide, and other pollutants, while the Arduino processes analog sensor signals and controls an LED alert system indicating pollution levels.Experimental observations showed that the initial polluted air reading of 320 was reduced to 120 after purification, achieving an overall improvement efficiency of 62.5%.Activated carbon contributed the highest purification efficiency due to its large internal surface area and adsorption capability.The developed model demonstrates the practical application of adsorption, chemical absorption, and embedded sensor technologies in an economical and educational manner.
