📄 Abstract（原文）
This dataset contains the survey data, bilingual codebook, and replication code for a study of public attitudes toward a just energy transition in Kazakhstan. The data come from an original public opinion survey conducted by telephone in Kazakh and Russian in February and March 2025, with 1,014 adults aged 18 and over across 19 cities. A stratified design allocated cities to five types — large diversified, coal-dependent, oil and gas, industrial, and other or mixed — in order to compare attitudes across urban economies with different forms of exposure to decarbonisation. Single-industry towns are deliberately oversampled, so the data describe variation across types of urban economic context rather than providing national estimates. The instrument covers employment, environmental impact, economic diversification, and perceptions of how the transition is being managed. Deposited items support the construction of an Energy Transition Attitudes Index and four just transition dimensions (governance, planning awareness, workforce, and regional resource capacity), following Krawchenko and Gordon (2021). The deposit includes the analysis dataset in CSV format, a codebook giving every question and response option in the original Russian with English translation, a self-contained R script reproducing all published tables and figures, and the online appendices. Open-ended responses and all identifiers have been removed.
