English

This study maps Morocco's green hydrogen value chain and assesses the local business ecosystem using Porter's value chain combined with Adner and Jacobides ecosystem frameworks. It finds an asymmetric ecosystem: local capabilities concentrate at both ends (renewable power, desalination, port logistics, ammonia handling), while the technological core—electrolyzer manufacturing, balance-of-plant, conversion, shipping and export certification—remains planned or absent.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

日本のGX文脈において

日本は水素基本戦略と海外水素サプライチェーン構築を進めており、資源国側のエコシステム形成と調達リスクの実態把握は、商社・重工の水素調達戦略やサプライチェーン設計に示唆を与える。

In the global GX context

As global hydrogen trade scales under net-zero pathways, this paper offers a value-chain lens on how emerging producer countries build (or fail to build) local industrial capability—relevant to international off-take agreements, transition finance for hydrogen, and supply-chain due diligence.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Morocco aims to be a key player in the green hydrogen ecosystem due to his important potential in renewable energies resources, geographical location and his energy transition strategy. The focus has been devoted to the feasibility of the green hydrogen plants, while the business ecosystem required to support these projects remains underexplored. This work identifies the business and entrepreneurship opportunities linked to the deployment of green hydrogen projects in Morocco. It combines Porter's value chain with the business ecosystem frameworks of Adner and Jacobides et al. The green hydrogen value chain is mapped then, the actors involved in each activity are identified, classified by role and type of complementarity, and assessed for their local presence on a four-level scale (present, partial, planned, absent). The analysis is based on national strategies, the Offre Maroc, institutional publications, international reports and company documents. The results reveal an asymmetric ecosystem. Local capabilities are concentrated at both ends of the value chain, in renewable electricity, desalination, port logistics and ammonia handling, and they build largely on earlier national programmes. The technological core: electrolyzer manufacturing, balance-of-plant equipment, conversion, maritime shipping and export certification, remains planned or absent.
