English

This paper analyzes sustainable propulsion technologies (electric, hybrid, biofuels, photovoltaic integration) and environmental governance for decarbonizing water transport in the Amazon region. Electrification can reduce emissions by 82-95%, aligning with IMO 2023 net-zero by 2050 and Brazilian 91% reduction targets. The Amazon has 16,000 km of navigable rivers, but faces high costs, limited infrastructure, and climate vulnerabilities. The Merchant Marine Fund has invested R$1.7 billion in 188 vessels.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

This paper contributes to global maritime decarbonization literature by providing a case study of the Amazon, a region with unique logistical challenges. It aligns with IMO's 2023 GHG strategy and highlights investment mechanisms (e.g., Brazil's Merchant Marine Fund) that could inform transition finance in other developing regions.

📄 Abstract(原文)
