📄 Abstract(原文)
This study examines whether green growth is feasible in the D-8 countries by investigating the extent to which economic growth has decoupled from carbon emissions over the period 2000–2025. In addition, it evaluates whether the renewable energy transition has supported this decoupling process and contributed to more sustainable patterns of economic expansion. The analysis employs the Tapio decoupling elasticity approach to assess the dynamic relationship between GDP growth and CO₂ emissions. The decoupling results are interpreted together with changes in renewable energy shares, carbon intensity, and energy intensity indicators in order to provide a broader assessment of the conditions under which green growth may emerge. The findings indicate that a strong, stable, and persistent green growth trajectory has not yet been firmly established across the D-8 economies. Although some countries display episodes of strong decoupling and gradual reductions in carbon intensity, these improvements are often irregular and country-specific. In many cases, economic expansion remains closely associated with rising emissions, suggesting that growth continues to rely heavily on carbon-intensive production and energy systems. The results further suggest that renewable energy expansion can contribute to decoupling, but its effect is limited when it is not accompanied by improvements in energy efficiency and deeper structural changes in the economy. Therefore, renewable energy alone does not automatically guarantee green growth. Overall, the study highlights that achieving green growth in the D-8 countries requires an integrated policy framework that combines renewable energy deployment, energy efficiency improvements, industrial upgrading, and reductions in carbon intensity. These findings offer important implications for policymakers seeking to reconcile economic development with climate sustainability.
