English

Lignin-based N-doped porous carbons were prepared via mechanochemical-assisted activation using four nitrogen sources. The melamine-derived sample achieved 4.25 mmol/g CO2 uptake at 273 K/1 bar with CO2/N2 selectivity of 11 and stable cycling. The study links nitrogen species and pore structure to capture performance, offering a low-cost route to sustainable carbon capture materials.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

Globally, CCUS is central to net-zero pathways and transition finance taxonomies, and low-cost sorbent innovation can lower capture costs that underpin credible decarbonization claims. However, this is early-stage materials science with limited direct linkage to TCFD/ISSB/CSRD disclosure frameworks.

📄 Abstract(原文)

ABSTRACT Using enzymatic hydrolysis lignin as carbon source, a series of lignin‐based N‐doped porous carbons (LNPCs) were prepared via mechanochemical‐assisted activation. Four typical N sources were selected to regulate nitrogen species, and their effects on surface chemistry, porosity, and CO 2 capture performance were clarified. The optimal precursor (L‐N‐ME) was obtained under hydrothermal conditions (150°C, 20 h, solid‐to‐liquid ratio 1:10) with melamine as N source. The resulting LSY‐N‐ME exhibited a CO 2 adsorption capacity of 4.25 mmol/g at 273 K and 1 bar, along with considerable CO 2 /N 2 selectivity (11 by IAST) and excellent cyclic stability, with negligible capacity loss after three adsorption–desorption cycles. Systematic analysis revealed that the appropriate N source not only preserved favorable pore structure but also played the decisive role in determining adsorption selectivity. Meanwhile, the correlations between N species, pore properties, and CO 2 uptake, selectivity, and isosteric heat of adsorption were thoroughly examined. This work provides comprehensive insight into N‐species regulation in biomass‐derived porous carbons and offers a simple, promising strategy for designing low‐cost, sustainable carbon capture materials.
