This article argues that making logistics-related GHG emissions visible at the procurement stage is essential for responsible and effective supply chain decision-making. Increasing regulatory pressure, especially Scope 3 reporting, requires companies to integrate emissions data into transport purchasing decisions. Logistics often represents a significant share of supply-chain emissions, yet emissions are rarely a decisive procurement criterion. The article stresses the importance of standardized, reliable, and comparable emissions data, supported by initiatives like ISO 14083 and CountEmissionsEU, and highlights digital tools and marketplaces (e.g., ADMIRAL) that enable emissions-aware procurement, turning sustainability into business value.
