This paper proposes a fairness-constrained potential game for peer-to-peer energy trading in microgrids, embedding a capacity-weighted fairness regularization into prosumer utility functions. It preserves an exact potential structure over finite strategy sets, guaranteeing pure-strategy Nash equilibrium and finite-step convergence. Numerical experiments show moderate fairness weights improve low-capacity prosumer benefits and provide an adjustable efficiency-fairness tradeoff.

📄 Abstract(原文)
<title>Abstract</title> <p>With the increasing penetration of distributed renewable energy resources, user-side storage, and flexible loads, conventional electricity consumers in microgrids are evolving into prosumers with both consumption and production capabilities. Peer-to-peer energy trading can promote local energy sharing and reduce dependence on centralized dispatch. However, purely self-interested trading may compress the benefits of small-capacity or disadvantaged prosumers, thereby weakening their long-term participation incentives. To address this issue, this paper proposes a fairness-constrained potential game mechanism for decentralized microgrid energy trading. The proposed mechanism embeds a capacity-weighted fairness regularization term into each prosumer's utility function and constructs a fairness-aware trading game under fixed fairness reference signals. Theoretical analysis shows that, over a finite trading strategy set, the proposed fairness-regularized game preserves an exact potential structure. This guarantees the existence of a pure-strategy Nash equilibrium and supports finite-step convergence of best-response dynamics and a checked asynchronous variant. Numerical experiments validate the proposed mechanism in terms of potential-function consistency, convergence behavior, efficiency--fairness tradeoff, protection of disadvantaged prosumers, and asynchronous robustness under communication delay and dropout. The results show that a moderate fairness weight can significantly improve the benefits of low-capacity prosumers and provides an adjustable efficiency--fairness tradeoff.</p>
