In the global GX context

This paper provides a broad overview of climate-related labor issues, but lacks deep empirical evidence or specific policy recommendations relevant to global disclosure or transition finance frameworks. It may serve as background for understanding social dimensions of climate transition.

📄 Abstract(原文)

The article notes that climate change is already having a serious impact on the safety and health of workers in all regions of the world, as they are among those most exposed to climate-related occupational risks, yet often have no choice but to continue working, even when conditions are hazardous. It highlights the close link between employment and climate change, as the effects of global warming increasingly impact labor markets and are reshaping labor dynamics, particularly through internal and external labor migration. At the same time, the article finds that renewable energy sectors are beginning to adapt to global warming and expand, potentially creating new jobs, especially in more industrially developed countries. It has been found that more frequent heat waves, increased pollution, and the spread of diseases lead to rising healthcare costs for workers. The article also highlights the important role of trade unions in protecting workers’ labor rights in the context of climate change. The article analyzes the experience of countries such as Spain, Germany, China, Qatar, and South Africa regarding the protection of workers’ rights in the context of climate change and notes that the protection of workers’ rights (in a climate context) is largely fragmented. It has been concluded that: 1) climate change is not only an environmental problem but also a complex economic challenge that affects the global and local economies, employment, the legal status, and the health of workers; 2) the phenomenon of climate change (which includes extreme heat, severe weather events, ultraviolet radiation, air pollution, and vector-borne diseases) drives labor migration, disrupts existing ratios of employed and unemployed individuals in the labor market, and leads to job losses or even business closures; 3) constant climate change, particularly high temperatures, is often the cause of workplace injuries and, consequently, loss of working capacity; 4) due to new climatic conditions, workers become more vulnerable, as the risk of job loss, reduced income, and permanent or temporary loss of working capacity is increasing exponentially.
