📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

日本のGX文脈において

日本の食品・畜産企業にとって、Scope 3排出量の算定対象となる飼料調達・畜産・輸送段階の環境負荷を把握する上で有用。SSBJ開示対応の初期的な情報源としても参考になる。

In the global GX context

This review provides a system-wide overview of the meat sector's environmental footprint, directly relevant to supply-chain decarbonization and disclosure under TCFD/ISSB/CSRD. It can serve as a baseline for companies assessing Scope 3 emissions in food value chains.

👥 読者別の含意

🔬研究者:A useful consolidation of LCA findings on the meat sector's environmental burden, suitable for framing research on food-system decarbonization.

🏢実務担当者:Can support Scope 3 inventory development by identifying emission-intensive stages across the meat supply chain.

🏛政策担当者:Provides evidence to justify policy measures targeting livestock-related GHG emissions and land-use impacts.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Abstract The increasing demand for meat over the past few decades has accelerated meat production and its impact on global warming. Deforestation, greenhouse gas emissions, air and water pollution, and large‐scale water consumption are among the most challenging consequences associated with the meat industry. Hence, in the present study, a critical study has been performed to assess the severity of its implications on the environment. This study covers a complete life cycle assessment of the meat industry which includes feed production, livestock rearing, transportation, processing, and distribution. Each of these stages is found to be responsible for contributing a considerable amount of greenhouse gases. It includes carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), methane (CH₄), and nitrous oxide (N 2 O), which are primarily responsible for global warming and climate change. The study highlights the impact of meat production on land and water resources, energy utilization, and biodiversity loss, which collectively pose long‐term risks to ecological stability. Furthermore, potential mitigation measures and policy frameworks have been discussed to encourage sustainable practices and to minimize the overall environmental burden of the meat production sector.
