English

This study analyzes the impact of natural resource consumption and Industry 5.0 on sustainable energy transition in emerging markets from 2000 to 2023 using panel quantile ARDL and CCMG estimators. Findings show that resource consumption initially hinders but sustained efficient use supports the transition. Industry 5.0 strengthens this positive effect, while economic complexity slows and environmental performance accelerates the shift. Policy implications highlight integrating Industry 5.0 with resource management to achieve SDG 7.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Abstract

Accelerating the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy is essential for achieving sustainable development, particularly in emerging markets where economic growth continues to increase pressure on natural resources and energy systems. This study examines how natural resource consumption and Industry 5.0 jointly influence the sustainable energy transition in emerging markets over the period 2000 to 2023. To capture heterogeneous relationships across the distribution of the dependent variable, the analysis employs Panel Quantile Autoregressive Distributed Lag (QARDL) and Common Correlated Mean Group (CCMG) estimators within a panel quantile framework. The findings reveal that natural resource consumption initially hinders the transition toward renewable energy, while sustained and efficient resource utilization ultimately supports the energy transition. Furthermore, Industry 5.0 strengthens this relationship by enhancing the positive contribution of natural resources to renewable energy adoption through advanced, human-centered, and sustainable industrial innovation. Among the control variables, economic complexity slows the energy transition, whereas improved environmental performance significantly accelerates the shift toward renewable energy. These findings provide important policy insights for governments and energy planners by highlighting the need to integrate Industry 5.0 strategies with sustainable natural resource management to accelerate clean energy adoption and advance Sustainable Development Goal 7 on affordable and clean energy in emerging markets.
