English
This chapter analyzes South Africa's 2025 G20 Presidency and how it advanced an African-centred just transition and climate governance agenda. It frames country platforms such as the Just Energy Transition Investment Plan (JET-IP) as mechanisms aligning global climate commitments with local development priorities. It argues that high capital costs, debt burdens, and limited investment flows constrain Africa's transition despite growing global climate finance, calling for alignment of climate science, financial-system reform, and policy innovation.

In the global GX context
For global disclosure and transition-finance scholarship, this chapter adds evidence on how country-led platforms (JET-IP) can operationalize just transition commitments and expose gaps in the international financial architecture — relevant to debates on blended finance, MDB reform, and ISSB-aligned transition planning in emerging markets.

📄 Abstract(原文)
This chapter examines South Africa’s leadership during its 2025 G20 Presidency, highlighting how it advanced an African-centred agenda for just transitions and global climate governance. It foregrounds the concept of country platforms, nationally driven frameworks such as the Just Energy Transition Investment Plan (JET-IP), as mechanisms for aligning global climate commitments with local development priorities. The chapter identifies two interlinked challenges: accelerating the just energy transition and reforming the global financial architecture. It argues that existing financial systems constrain progress through high costs of capital, rising debt burdens, and limited investment flows to Africa, despite growing global climate finance. Drawing on a framework that links views, structures, and practices, the chapter contends that transformation requires aligning climate science, systemic financial reform, and practical policy innovation. Ultimately, it positions South Africa’s G20 Presidency as a critical intervention that elevated African priorities and demonstrated the need for a more equitable, country-led approach to financing and implementing sustainability transitions.
