English
This paper proposes a model to embed research contributions into carbon credit systems, which currently reward only project-level emission reductions. It converts measurable abatement from biochar, blue carbon, CCS, renewables and digital infrastructure into credits using technology-readiness risk adjustment, credible abatement percentages, and valuation via both market prices and the social cost of carbon. It argues research should be recognized as a formal driver of decarbonization, requiring cooperation among researchers, standard-setters and policymakers.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
As global carbon markets (VCM, Article 6, CORSIA) face integrity scrutiny, this paper adds to debates on what counts as a creditable climate contribution and how to value early-stage abatement. It speaks to ISSB/TCFD-adjacent discussions on recognizing R&D and innovation in transition planning and to standard-setters weighing technology-readiness risk in credit issuance.

📄 Abstract(原文)
Carbon credit systems reward the amount of emission reduction at the level of a project, but they do not carve out the role of research that facilitates such results. This paper sought to develop a model that involves output of research in the carbon credit systems. It was noted that studies in biochar, land-based sequestration, blue carbon systems, carbon capture and storage, renewable energy, industrial capturing, as well as digital infrastructure produce measurable emissions. The proposed model converts these contributions to credits based on quantifiable bases, risk adjustment based on the level of technology readiness, credible percentages of abatement and constituent valuation using both market prices and social cost of carbon. This paper has been able to prove that research is providing testable climate advantages that keep the market integrity intact. The paper concludes that research as a component of the carbon economy should be placed where it is regarded as a recognized driver of motivation to innovate and fast-track decarbonization. Going forward, cooperation among researchers, standard-setting institutions as well as policymakers will be necessary in order to operationalize this model.
