English
This review surveys recent progress in CO₂ capture, storage, and utilization (CCUS). It compares chemical looping, membrane separation, zeolite adsorption, oxy-combustion, and pre-/post-combustion capture for efficiency and scalability, noting high selectivity of zeolite and biomass-derived sorbents. Mineral carbonation and geological sequestration in depleted reservoirs and saline aquifers are assessed for long-term stability, alongside utilization pathways to methanol, methane, biofuels, and CO₂ foam concrete. Integrated capture-conversion and power-to-fuel concepts are promising but face cost, energy, and scale challenges.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
CCUS is central to global net-zero pathways and increasingly appears in ISSB/CSRD transition-plan disclosures as a Scope 1 abatement lever. This review helps disclosure teams and investors assess technology readiness, cost, and permanence claims when evaluating corporate decarbonization strategies.

📄 Abstract(原文)
This review examines recent progress in capturing, storing, and utilizing carbon dioxide (CO₂) as part of a comprehensive approach to mitigating climate change. Different capture methodologies, such as chemical looping, membrane separation, adsorption with zeolites, oxy-combustion, and pre- and post-combustion techniques, are scrutinized with a focus on their efficiency, scalability, and incorporation into low-emission energy systems. Adsorption methods, especially those using zeolite materials and biomass-derived sorbents, show high CO₂ selectivity and purity in post-combustion environments. At the same time, computational and machine learning tools are improving process optimization. Mineral carbonation and geological sequestration in depleted reservoirs and saline aquifers are assessed for their long-term stability and safety, along with innovative mineralization methods that enhance storage efficiency. Utilization pathways are examined as well, with an emphasis on converting captured CO₂ into value-added products like fuels, methanol, methane, biofuels, and innovative construction materials such as CO₂ foam concrete. Integrated capture and conversion systems, as well as power-to-fuel concepts, are examples of emerging technologies that offer promising opportunities but encounter difficulties related to cost reduction, energy demands, and large-scale implementation. In summary, the review says there's no single way to stop all pollution. To reach zero emissions, we need cool tech to catch carbon, safe places to store it, and smart ideas to use it.
