ABSTRACT This study investigated the adsorption isotherms of methylene blue (MB) onto activated carbon derived from waste coffee grounds (WCGs–AC). To explore the adsorption characteristics of WCGs–AC, twenty‐six adsorption isotherm equations were evaluated to investigate the equilibrium adsorption behavior of MB on WCGs–AC. The model that best fits the data was selected based on the highest R 2 = 0.9987, with the Langmuir model showing the best performance. The free energy change (Δ G ) was calculated using the Langmuir constant ( K L ), and the results indicated that the adsorption process involved physisorption and chemisorption. These findings demonstrate that ZnCl 2 ‐activated WCGs–AC is a promising low‐cost adsorbent for methylene blue removal from aqueous solutions.
