📄 Abstract（原文）
This paper studies the Energy Trilemma in China. Energy trilemma highlights it is difficult to achieve energy security, equity and environmental sustainability simultaneously, and technology, policy and the environment have all contributed to this problem. Thus, 31 provincial-level areas from 2014 to 2023 were selected as the panel data for this study. An evaluation system is built with one goal layer, three measurement layers, and twelve indicators. Spatial autocorrelation analysis then uncovers the spatiotemporal patterns and spatial interactions of the trilemma. The results show a steady rise in the overall energy system score across the country. However, large regional differences remain, forming a spatial pattern of high scores in the east and west and low scores in the central region. Mechanism analysis shows that the energy equity exhibits stable positive spatial agglomeration, the positive spatial correlation of environmental sustainability strengthens year by year, and a persistent spatial conflict exists between energy security and environmental sustainability. By uncovering the competitive and cooperative behaviors within the energy system from a spatial perspective, this paper provides a scientific basis for differentiated regional energy governance.
