📄 Abstract(原文)

Objective: This study aims to analyze the environmental impacts associated with the disposal processes of automated teller machines (ATMs) used in bank self-service operations, examining how industrial symbiosis practices can contribute to sustainable waste management aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).   Theoretical Framework: Electronic equipment is subject to accelerated obsolescence due to rapid technological advancement, resulting in increasing volumes of electronic waste. Within the framework of the circular economy, industrial symbiosis is recognized as a strategic approach that enables waste and by-products to be reintegrated into productive systems, reducing environmental impacts and supporting the achievement of the SDGs.   Method: An integrated methodological approach was adopted, combining Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Material Flow Analysis (MFA). The analysis was supported by primary data obtained through a case study carried out at a cooperative specialized in recycling ATM components. Environmental impacts were assessed using OpenLCA software, applying the Eco-indicator 99 and GWP 100a methods.   Results and Discussion: The process avoided environmental damages equivalent to 0.00038 DALY, 279.01712 PAF, and 987.73385 MJ Surple associated with raw material extraction, in addition to preventing the emission of 15.05 kg of CO₂-equivalent per unit disposed.   Research Implications: The findings demonstrate that the integration of LCA, MFA, and industrial symbiosis constitutes a analytical framework for improving sustainability-oriented decision-making in banking operations and electronic waste management.   Originality/Value: This study provides original empirical evidence by proposing and validating an industrial symbiosis framework tailored to ATM disposal and aligned with the SDGs.
