📄 Abstract(原文)
The role of finance in advancing sustainable development has become increasingly significant as countries across the world confront the growing challenges of climate change and environmental degradation. This paper presents an overview of green finance and sustainable investment in India, with particular emphasis on the country’s distinctive environmental, social, and economic context. It examines the changing green finance ecosystem in India by analysing the regulatory mechanisms, financial instruments, and emerging trends influencing its development. The paper further reviews the efforts undertaken by the Indian government, regulatory authorities, and financial institutions to encourage environmentally responsible financial practices and investment decisions. The study also identifies major barriers to the broader adoption of green finance and sustainable investment, including policy uncertainty, inadequate information, limited awareness, and changing market conditions. In addition, it highlights the growing awareness among investors, financial institutions, businesses, and policymakers regarding the importance of incorporating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into financial decision-making. The paper explores how technological advancement and innovation can facilitate new solutions for sustainable finance and discusses examples of green projects and initiatives implemented across different sectors in India. Furthermore, it highlights the potential advantages of expanding green finance, including reduced exposure to climate-related risks, greater economic and environmental resilience, and progress towards India’s commitments under international sustainability frameworks. Sustainable investment can also generate wider economic and social benefits through employment generation, community development, and inclusive economic growth. The paper concludes by emphasizing the need for coordinated action among government institutions, financial organizations, businesses, and civil society to address existing challenges and realize the potential of sustainable finance in creating a greener, more inclusive, and resilient future for India.
