In the global GX context
Globally, the construction sector is under pressure to decarbonize, with many countries adopting low-carbon concrete standards and LCA frameworks (e.g., EN 15804). This paper provides a comparative LCA of nanoparticle-enhanced concrete, offering insights into how novel materials can affect the carbon footprint across the lifecycle. It contributes to the growing body of work on embodied carbon in construction materials, relevant to ISSB and TCFD-related supply chain disclosures.

📄 Abstract(原文)
The construction industry faces the pressing challenge of reducing its carbon footprint, with cement production being one of the largest sources of GHG emissions. This study comparatively evaluates the environmental impact of traditional concretes and concretes modified with copper nanoparticles through a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The aim is to quantify greenhouse gas emissions from raw material extraction (including nanoparticle synthesis) to the end-of-life, identifying the phases of greatest contribution in each type of concrete. Although copper nanoparticles promise to improve concrete properties and potentially durability, their production process also entails energy consumption. The research will determine if the integration of copper nanoparticles results in a significant net reduction in the carbon footprint, offering a solid basis for informed decision-making in the development of more sustainable and resilient construction materials.
