📄 Abstract(原文)

The book entitled “Green Finance and Sustainable Development: Policy Perspectives & Road Ahead” emerges at a pivotal moment in global discourse on economic growth, environmental stewardship, and social wellbeing. The papers published in this book are presented in the International Conference held during 21-22 February, 2026 in Utkal University organized by RBI Chair Unit, PG Department of Analytical & Applied Economics, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.  As countries around the world confront the mounting challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, resource scarcity, and widening socio-economic inequalities, there is a growing recognition that conventional financial systems must evolve to support a sustainable and equitable future. This volume seeks to explore that evolution its imperatives, achievements, limitations, and the policy frameworks that can guide transformative action. Green finance, at its core, involves the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into financial decision-making. It encompasses a broad spectrum of instruments, from green bonds and climate risk pricing to sustainable investment portfolios and climate-aligned budgeting. As global capital flows exceed trillions of dollars annually, aligning financial markets with sustainability objectives presents both an extraordinary opportunity and a formidable challenge. This book brings together multidisciplinary insights from policy makers, economists, climate scientists, and financial practitioners. It presents a nuanced understanding of how forward-looking policies, regulatory frameworks, and innovative financial instruments can mobilize capital toward sustainable development goals (SDGs). The contributors examine the strategic levers for fostering green investment, enhancing transparency, and managing climate-related financial risks. A central theme of this volume is the policy perspective how public policy can shape markets, incentivize green investment, and integrate sustainability into the core of economic planning. The book also looks ahead to the road ahead, identifying emerging trends, technological innovations, and institutional reforms that can accelerate the transition to a low-carbon, resilient, and inclusive global economy. We are at a juncture where decisions taken today will define the quality of life for generations to come. It is our hope that this book informs and inspires decision-makers, scholars, and practitioners to engage proactively with the complex dynamics of green finance and sustainable development. IV This book has been published with financial support from All India Disaster Mitigation Institute (AIDMI), Ahmedabad and RBI Chair Unit, Utkal university, Bhubaneswar. The views expressed in this book strictly belong to the chapter contributors and not to RBI. We are thankful to Dr. Manisha Gupta, Research Associate and Ashutosh Chhotaray, Research Assistant, RBI Chair Unit, Utkal University for their assistance in editing this book. We express our sincere thanks to Iara Publisher for publishing this book in time.
