📄 Abstract(原文)
Canada’s agri-food sector is increasingly exposed to climate change, and timely, evidence-based adaptation is critical for safeguarding food security and rural livelihoods. Effective adaptation, however, depends on stakeholders sharing an accurate understanding of climate risks, which misinformation now threatens to erode. Climate misinformation poses a growing challenge to sustainable agriculture, shaping perceptions and hindering climate action in Canada’s agri-food sector. This study explores diverse Agri-food stakeholder (researchers/educators, public sector advisors/extension staff, NGO professionals/community organizers, media professionals, and policymakers) perspectives on climate change misinformation using Q-methodology throughout Canada. A systematic literature review informed the development of 33 statements capturing varied aspects of misinformation, including its sources, impacts, and mitigation strategies in relation to climate change and agriculture. Twenty-two Canadian agri-food professionals sorted these statements, and principal component analysis revealed three distinct discourses: Ideology Over Evidence (misinformation shaped by political and identity-based biases), The Literacy Gap (vulnerability due to limited critical thinking and media literacy), and The Platform Problem (digital and algorithmic amplification of false narratives). Despite differing emphases, discourses among agri-food stakeholders acknowledged weakened trust in science and institutions. The findings highlight the need for tailored interventions, combining consensus messaging, media literacy education, and digital platform reforms to enhance resilience against misinformation and support evidence-based climate change adaptation in agriculture.
