📄 Abstract(原文)

This chapter introduces the current landscape of climate change communication in Asia, first exploring its concept and the field’s interdisciplinary dimensions from an Asian perspective that relate to science, environment, and political communication studies. The discussion then shifts to the importance of communicating the effects of climate change as experienced from Asian perspectives. By highlighting the climate change communication link with the broader framework of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, particularly SDG 13: Climate Action, this chapter underscores the significance of communication among stakeholders on climate change issues. Also, the chapter explores the effectiveness of climate change communication strategies, emphasising the use of visual, data, and social media, as well as examining key challenges Asian communicators face in communicating climate change, such as the complex nature of the subject, the freedom and lack of attention, and the relevance of incorporating local context in communicating climate change issues in the region. These challenges are illustrated through examples from selected Asian regions. Finally, the chapter culminates by highlighting the critical roles of education, including both formal and informal education, to strengthen climate change communication within the sphere. It is hoped that the chapter serves as a reference for stakeholders interested in delving into climate change communication in the context of Asia.
