English
This paper synthesizes the full lifecycle of plastics—from petrochemical extraction to oceanic degradation—and evaluates its contribution to global GHG emissions. It examines how ocean microplastics disrupt biological carbon sinks and critiques policy tools such as Extended Producer Responsibility and circular economy frameworks. The work is an integrative review using process flow diagrams and carbon budget charts.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
Plastic lifecycle emissions sit squarely within Scope 3 and supply-chain disclosure debates, and EPR/circular economy policy connects to CSRD and ISSB value-chain reporting. As a geographical synthesis, it offers framing rather than new empirical disclosure evidence.

📄 Abstract(原文)
AbstractClimate change represents one of the most pressing global challenges of the 21st century, primarily driven by anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. While fossil fuel extraction, energy generation, deforestation, and agricultural practices are widely recognized as primary drivers, the systemic impact of plastic manufacturing, consumption, and disposal on global climate dynamics has increasingly come under geographic scrutiny. This paper synthesizes the environmental lifecycle of plastics—from fossil fuel-based petrochemical extraction to the atmospheric and oceanic degradation of single-use polymers. Incorporating key empirical metrics, process flow diagrams, carbon budget charts, and comparative statistical figures, we evaluate how plastic production exacerbates GHG emissions, examine ecosystem disruptions caused by ocean microplastics on biological carbon sinks, and critique current policy interventions including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the circular economy framework.
