English
This report presents the first integrated Marginal Abatement Cost Curve (iMACC) for Ireland, combining energy systems and AFOLU modeling. It assesses mitigation costs and potentials under two scenarios: current policy with a split-gas 2050 target and a carbon budget-consistent climate-neutral pathway. Provides quantitative abatement pathways to 2050.

In the global GX context
This paper provides a national-level integrated MAC curve methodology, relevant for countries like Ireland and others developing climate strategies. It demonstrates how energy and land-use sectors can be jointly modeled to inform cost-effective mitigation policies, contributing to the global literature on abatement cost curves.

📄 Abstract(原文)
Ireland’s transition to climate neutrality requires rapid and sustained emissions reductions across energy systems and land use. This report presents the first integrated Marginal Abatement Cost Curve (iMACC) for Ireland, combining energy systems modelling (UCC) with modelling of mitigation pathways for agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) (University of Galway). Two iMACCs are presented which assess the scale, cost and structure of mitigation under two scenarios: one reflecting mitigation under current policy ambition plus a split-gas 2050 climate target, and a second showing the additional abatement required to achieve a carbon budget-consistent, climate-neutral pathway
