English
This review synthesizes sustainable finance across green bonds, climate-related financial mechanisms, and responsible investment. Green bond financial characteristics depend on liquidity, issuer credibility, certification, institutions, and investor preferences, while physical and transition climate risks increasingly affect conventional asset prices and financial stability. ESG strategies—screening, integration, engagement, stewardship—are complicated by rating-provider disagreement and divergent investor objectives. The authors argue sustainable finance cannot be judged by issuance volumes or ESG scores alone; credible environmental information, institutions, and regulatory comparability are essential.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
日本のGX文脈において
SSBJ基準・有報での気候開示やESG格付のばらつきへの対応が進む日本企業にとって、グリーンボンドと投資家スチュワードシップを結びつける視点は統合報告書や投資家対話の設計に示唆を与える。
In the global GX context
Amid ISSB/CSRD-driven comparability debates and persistent ESG rating divergence, this review reinforces the global disclosure agenda: credible, comparable environmental information is the precondition for green-bond credibility, transition finance, and anti-greenwashing regulation.

📄 Abstract(原文)
This paper examines the development of sustainable finance through three interconnected dimensions: green bonds, climate-related financial mechanisms, and responsible investment. The literature shows that green bonds have evolved from a specialised financing instrument into a broader mechanism for mobilising capital, signalling environmental commitments, and supporting corporate and public sustainability strategies. However, their financial characteristics remain conditional on market liquidity, issuer credibility, certification, institutional arrangements, and investor preferences. Sustainable finance also extends beyond labelled securities because climate-related physical and transition risks increasingly affect conventional asset prices, banking systems, financial stability, and corporate financing decisions. At the investor level, environmental, social, and governance considerations influence portfolio construction through screening, ESG integration, engagement, stewardship, and impact objectives. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of these strategies is complicated by substantial disagreement among ESG rating providers and by differences in investor objectives. The literature therefore suggests that sustainable finance cannot be assessed exclusively through issuance volumes, ESG scores, or short-term financial performance. Its development depends on the interaction between credible environmental information, financial institutions, corporate behaviour, investor preferences, and regulatory frameworks capable of improving comparability and limiting greenwashing.
