English
This chapter reviews agricultural carbon sequestration practices—conservation tillage, cover cropping, agroforestry—as climate-resilient solutions. It synthesizes how ICTs (SMS, apps, IoT, GIS, drones, satellites, AI, blockchain) can scale adoption, improve MRV, and expand access to carbon markets. Emphasis is on smallholder relevance in developing economies, linking ICT adoption to sequestration outcomes and climate-smart agriculture.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
Globally, this speaks to the growing intersection of digital MRV, soil carbon crediting, and agricultural carbon markets under Article 6 and voluntary standards (Verra, Gold Standard). It adds a developing-economy, smallholder lens to disclosure scholarship that is often dominated by corporate value-chain accounting, and highlights AI/blockchain as enablers of verification integrity.

📄 Abstract(原文)
Climate variability has put pressure on food security with the agriculture sector contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. Climate-resilient crop varieties and carbon sequestration practices provide a viable solution. This practice captures the atmospheric carbon dioxide ( CO 2 ) in soils and biomass by performing activities such as conservation tillage, cover cropping, and agroforestry. We synthesize the transformative role of digital technologies in scaling, implementing, and controlling agricultural carbon sequestration practices in this chapter. Scientific and pragmatic insights are used to portray how these information and communication technologies (ICTs), including mobile phone SMS advisory alerts, digital applications, Internet of things (IoT) remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), drone cameras, satellite imagery, soil sensors, artificial intelligence and blockchain-based opportunities may increase knowledge sharing, affordable governance, reporting and verification processes, and access to emerging carbon markets. The adoption of information and communication technologies is linked with carbon sequestration outcomes. These outcomes can be obtained through the transparent transfer of carbon credits, institutional assistance, carbon trading incentives, and the presence of an effective regulatory framework. The analysis fairly describes that the potential of ICT-enabled carbon sequestration practices leads to climate-smart agriculture, rural resilience, and sustainable rural transformation, using international exposures but emphasis remains on smallholder relevance to developing economies.
