English

This study quantifies the impact of energy-transition mineral mining on biodiversity, measured as species abundance loss. It decomposes effects into direct conversion, disturbance, and fragmentation, and projects future mining pressure under intervention scenarios. Highlights the need to integrate biodiversity conservation into GX policies.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

As global demand for transition minerals surges, this paper provides critical evidence on biodiversity impacts, informing ISSB and TNFD-aligned disclosure and transition finance risk assessments. It underscores the need for supply-chain due diligence and spatial planning in mineral sourcing.

👥 読者別の含意

🔬研究者:Provides a rigorous quantitative framework for assessing mining impacts on biodiversity, useful for further research on trade-offs between climate and biodiversity goals.

📄 Abstract(原文)

This archive contains figure-level source data, supplementary data tables, and analysis and plotting code supporting the manuscript "Energy-transition minerals amplify spatially concentrated mining pressure on global biodiversity" The archived results cover annual mining-attributable mean species abundance loss, Shapley decomposition into direct conversion, mine disturbance, and fragmentation mechanisms, country and ecoregion summaries, BioTIME model summaries, future conditional mining-pressure projections, intervention scenarios, and aggregated mining-inventory quality-assurance statistics. Large third-party and licensed inputs are not redistributed. These include GLOBIO4 model inputs, BioTIME records, Key Biodiversity Area and species-range data, complete mining datasets, mineral-production source files, and mineral-demand pathway source files. Exact BioTIME site coordinates and detailed mine-site crosswalks are excluded. Provider information and access restrictions are documented in the archive.
