📄 Abstract(原文)
Green Finance has emerged as an important mechanism for aligning financial-sector development with environmental sustainability and inclusive economic growth. This study examines Green Finance as a catalyst for sustainable development in India, with particular emphasis on its evolution, major financial instruments, contribution to sustainable development, factors influencing market development, institutional challenges, policy requirements and future opportunities. The study adopts a descriptive, exploratory and analytical research design based primarily on secondary data drawn from peer-reviewed literature, regulatory publications and government and institutional reports. The study identifies that India's Green Finance ecosystem has evolved from renewable-energy lending towards a diversified framework comprising green bonds, Sovereign Green Bonds, green banking, green deposits, green credit, ESG-oriented investment, climate finance and emerging carbon-market and transition-finance mechanisms. These instruments can support the environmental, economic and social dimensions of sustainable development by directing capital towards renewable energy, clean technologies, sustainable infrastructure, employment generation and climate resilience. However, greenwashing, inconsistent classification, inadequate ESG data, high initial investment, long payback periods, risk perceptions, limited investor awareness and difficulties in impact measurement continue to constrain market development. The study further identifies regulatory, economic, institutional, market, technological, environmental and behavioural factors influencing Green Finance. The study proposes an integrated India-specific framework connecting these drivers with Green Finance instruments and sustainable-development outcomes and recommends stronger regulation, improved ESG disclosure, independent verification, financial incentives, institutional capacity building, technological integration, investor education and outcome-based impact measurement. The study concludes that India needs to move beyond merely mobilising green capital towards ensuring its credible allocation, effective monitoring and measurable environmental, economic and social outcomes.
