In the global GX context

Amid ISSB/CSRD-driven demand for verifiable sustainability data, this paper offers empirical evidence that blockchain-enabled transparency is a mechanism linking green finance to ESG outcomes, relevant to global disclosure-infrastructure debates and transition-finance integrity.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Digital innovation is fundamentally reshaping how firms convert sustainable financial resources into long-term environmental, social, and governance (ESG) value. This study examines how blockchain transparency, as a digital innovation capability, links green finance to ESG performance. Drawing on a panel dataset of 19,683 firm-year observations from publicly listed firms across ten major economies between 2015 and 2025, the findings reveal that green finance, blockchain transparency, and digital finance significantly enhance corporate ESG performance. Furthermore, blockchain transparency partially mediates the relationship between green finance and ESG performance, demonstrating how blockchain-enabled transparency strengthens organizational knowledge, information quality, and stakeholder trust across complex shipbuilding supply chains. Group technology enabling modular construction, standardized processes, and knowledge sharing emerges as a critical complementary capability that amplifies the sustainability benefits of digital and financial innovations. By integrating sustainable finance with digital innovation, this study extends the literature on innovation-driven sustainability and provides evidence that blockchain-enabled transparency is an important mechanism through which firms translate green financial investments into superior ESG outcomes and long-term value creation. The findings offer practical implications for corporate managers, policymakers, investors, and sustainability stakeholders seeking to accelerate digital and sustainable transformation.
