English

Using MMQR on 40 developing economies (2004-2023), this study examines how green finance (GFN) and the digital economy (DEC) jointly advance a just energy transition (JET). GFN is most transformative in lower-income and digitally emerging nations, while DEC's moderating effect peaks in mature-infrastructure countries. Bridging the digital-financial divide is framed as foundational for an inclusive low-carbon future (SDGs 7 and 13).

📄 Abstract(原文)

This study investigates the synergistic roles of green finance (GFN) and the digital economy (DEC) in advancing a just energy transition (JET) across 40 developing economies from 2004 to 2023. While traditional scholarship often focuses solely on technical decarbonization, this research utilizes a novel multidimensional composite index to prioritize the socio-economic equity and distributive justice essential to a truly “just” transition. Employing Method of Moments Quantile Regression (MMQR), the empirical analysis captures critical nonlinear dynamics and distributional heterogeneity across different stages of development. The findings reveal that while GFN serves as a fundamental driver for systemic change, the DEC acts as a powerful moderating catalyst, democratizing access to clean energy and amplifying the effectiveness of financial mechanisms through significant synergistic interactions. Specifically, heterogeneity analysis indicates that GFN is most transformative for lower-income and digitally emerging nations, whereas the moderating power of the digital economy peaks in countries with more mature infrastructure. These results underscore a vital policy imperative for the Global South: bridging the digital-financial divide is not merely a technical objective but a foundational requirement for achieving an inclusive low-carbon future that fulfills the UN 2030 Agenda (SDGs 7 and 13). By integrating these two transformative forces, developing nations can ensure that environmental sustainability does not come at the cost of social stability or equitable growth.
