📄 Abstract(原文)
Objective: The objective of this article is to compare different methodologies for quantifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from flaring on oil platforms. Theoretical Framework: The oil and gas industry is a major source of emissions, particularly flares, which burn excess gases from the production process, mainly methane. Although this practice reduces global warming potential compared to the direct release of the gas, emissions remain significant, making reliable quantification necessary. Method: The study uses stoichiometric data on the gas composition from a Brazilian platform, obtained through on-site gas sampling, and applies estimation methodologies reported in the literature. Results and Discussion: The results highlight differences among the estimates obtained, demonstrating the influence of the assumptions adopted in each approach and contributing to an understanding of the associated uncertainties. Research Implications: This study provides insights for improving GHG emission inventories and mitigation strategies for oil platform flares, as well as addressing their environmental impact. Originality/Value: This study compares methodologies for quantifying flare emissions, highlighting uncertainties, improving inventories, and supporting more effective mitigation strategies in the oil sector.
