English

Replication package reproducing all results of a study on whether Alberta's output-based carbon pricing (SGER/CCIR/TIER) blunted the effect of Canada's rising national carbon-price floor (GGPPA, 2019) on large industrial emitters. Uses firm-level emissions (2004–2023), green patent stocks, and sector emission intensity with two-way fixed-effects DiD, event studies, and Honest DiD robustness checks.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

As jurisdictions worldwide (EU CBAM, ISSB, national carbon pricing) grapple with balancing industrial competitiveness and decarbonization, this study provides empirical evidence on how output-based rebates can weaken carbon price signals—directly relevant to global carbon pricing design and transition finance debates.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Code and data that reproduce every table, figure and number in the paper Does Output Protection Blunt Carbon Pricing? Evidence from Large Industrial Emitters under Canada's National Price Floor (Tang, Gong, Fu and Chen, 2026). The paper asks whether large emitters regulated under Alberta's output-based carbon-pricing systems (SGER, CCIR, TIER) responded differently from comparable large multi-province firms in other Canadian provinces once the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act made a rising national carbon-price floor binding in 2019, using firm-level emissions (Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program, 2004–2023), green patent stocks (Canadian Intellectual Property Office, CPC Y02/Y04S) and sector-level emission intensity (Statistics Canada real GDP). Contents: the 23-step data-construction pipeline ( pipeline/ ), the estimation scripts ( analysis/ : two-way fixed-effects difference-in-differences with time-varying and pre-policy fixed treatment definitions, event studies with joint lead tests, a facility-level within-firm check, firm-, province- and sector–province-cell clustering, wild cluster bootstraps, Conley–Taber placebo provinces, cell-level permutation tests, Honest DiD relative-magnitudes confidence sets, heterogeneity and oil-price-cycle analyses), a Makefile that regenerates all outputs, the analysis-ready firm–year and company–province–year panels, the small raw inputs, and full variable documentation ( data/data_dictionary.md , data/analysis_ready/CODEBOOK.md ). Bulk public sources that are too large to redistribute (CIPO patent researcher datasets, Statistics Canada bulk tables) are fetched by data/download.sh . Data licences and required attribution statements are listed in data/README.md .
