English

This standard defines a hub-only CCUS architecture where emitters capture CO₂ in solid form and only centralized hubs handle gaseous CO₂. It lowers entry barriers for small emitters, reduces pipeline length and permitting complexity, and provides governance rules, MRV, and chain-of-custody. It is technology-neutral and enables scalable deployment.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

Globally, CCUS deployment is often hindered by extensive pipeline networks. The hub-only topology standard offers an alternative paradigm to accelerate CCUS in regions with distributed emitters and limited pipeline infrastructure, complementing existing standards and providing a governance framework for multi-stakeholder projects.

This standard provides a novel architectural framework for modeling and comparing CCUS deployment scenarios, especially for distributed industrial regions.

Corporate sustainability teams can evaluate this standard for feasibility in CCUS projects, particularly for small or medium emitters seeking to reduce upfront pipeline costs.

Policymakers should consider this standard as a regulatory template for enabling scalable CCUS systems that reduce permitting complexity and lower entry barriers for diverse emitters.

📄 Abstract(原文)

The Hub-Only Pipeline Topology Architecture Standard (HOPT-AS) v1.0 defines a governed, system-level architecture for large-scale carbon capture, transport, and storage (CCUS) in regions where conventional emitter-to-pipeline models are economically, logistically, or regulatorily constrained. The standard formalizes the Hub-Only Pipeline Topology (HOPT), an architectural approach in which industrial emitters capture CO₂ in solid-bound form and interface exclusively through solids-based logistics, while all gaseous CO₂ handling, conditioning, compression, and pipeline injection occur at centralized regeneration hubs. CO₂ pipelines therefore connect only hubs to hubs and onward to storage or utilization, eliminating direct emitter–pipeline connectivity. HOPT-AS establishes mandatory topology rules, system boundaries, stakeholder roles, and participation constraints to ensure interoperability, scalability, and architectural integrity across multi-stakeholder deployments. The standard defines hub and emitter classes, permitted topology families, governance and certification mechanisms, registry-based chain-of-custody, and a structured framework for monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV). It is technology-neutral with respect to capture chemistry and detailed engineering design, focusing instead on architectural consistency, governance, and repeatable deployment models. By relocating gaseous CO₂ handling from emitters to shared hubs, HOPT-AS lowers entry barriers for small and medium emitters, reduces total pipeline length and permitting complexity, and enables phased deployment using existing logistics infrastructure. The standard is intended for reference, design alignment, pilot deployment, early adoption, and future certification by industry, governments, regulators, financiers, and infrastructure developers seeking scalable CCUS systems in distributed industrial regions.
