English

This study proposes an energy-economic and low-carbon optimization strategy for a residential hot water system combining a heat pump water heater and heat storage tank under PV-plus-grid supply. A genetic algorithm minimizes energy cost within a multi-layer constraint framework to enable low-carbon load shifting. Results show water usage patterns dominate daily cost, weather affects PV utilization, and higher COP linearly reduces cost.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

Residential demand-side flexibility and PV self-consumption are central to grid decarbonization and electrification agendas globally, complementing building-efficiency and heat-pump policies. The work adds operational optimization evidence but does not engage disclosure frameworks such as TCFD, ISSB, or CSRD.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Hot water demand represents a significant portion of household energy consumption.Under a hybrid power supply scenario combining local photovoltaic (PV) generation and the grid, severe mismatches exist between hot water demand, fluctuating grid tariffs, and intermittent PV availability. To address these challenges, an energy-economic and low-carbon (EELC) optimization strategy is proposed for a residential hot water supply system consisting of a built-in residential heat pump water heater (RHPWH) and a heat storage tank (HST).A genetic algorithm (GA) is utilized to construct the fitness function with the objective of minimizing the energy cost, and a multi-layer constraint framework integrating boundary, performance, and strategic conditions is established to achieve low-carbon energy management decisions.Simulation studies are conducted to evaluate the optimization outcomes and investigate the impacts of the COP of the RHPWH, weather conditions, and various water usage plans. The results indicate that the choice of water usage plan exerts the most significant influence on the daily optimized energy cost, while weather conditions alter the PV utilization proportion, and an increasing COP yields a linear reduction in costs. This research provides practical guidance for users to implement load-shifting and maximize low-carbon solar self-consumption economically. This research provides a reference basis for the operational optimization and energy storage scheduling of residential hot water supply systems.
