English

This book chapter examines the convergence of AI and renewable energy systems as a foundation for smart, low-carbon societies. It reviews how machine learning, predictive analytics, and digital twins improve forecasting, operational efficiency, fault detection, and grid integration across solar, wind, hydro, bioenergy, and geothermal. It also addresses AI's own energy footprint and the need for low-carbon AI architectures, alongside governance and ethical considerations.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

Globally, this chapter speaks to the operational side of the energy transition—how AI can support grid flexibility and renewable integration, which underpins corporate decarbonization pathways and transition finance narratives. It also flags the growing energy demand of AI infrastructure, an emerging disclosure and target-setting issue for tech and data-center-heavy firms.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has changed the dynamic of energy sustainability across the globe with regard to digital transformation. This chapter discusses AI and renewable energy systems convergence as the basis of smart, low-carbon societies. It discusses the ways in which machine learning, predictive analytics, and digital twins can be used to increase solar, wind, hydropower, bioenergy and geothermal resource forecasting, operational efficiency, fault detection and grid integration. The specific emphasis is put upon AI-driven solutions to intermittency, stabilizing smart grids, and optimizing energy distribution and demand management. The chapter, as well, assesses the increasing energy requirements of AI infrastructures and suggests ways of creating energy-efficient, low-carbon AI architectures. It combines the technical, environmental, and policy views to put the practical uses providing resilience and net-zero transitions and focus on governance, ethics, and responsible innovation to promote sustainable and inclusive development.
