English

This paper empirically examines green finance's role in sustainable economic development using a 40-economy panel from 2010–2023. Drawing on endogenous growth and ecological economics, it finds a 10% increase in green finance raises the SRDI by 0.034 points long-run, with green bond issuance and R&D also contributing. About 55% of disequilibrium is corrected annually, and effects are stronger in economies lacking a mature green-finance ecosystem.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

Amid global efforts under TCFD/ISSB and transition finance frameworks, this paper provides cross-country evidence that green finance measurably supports sustainable development, reinforcing the case for green bond markets and central bank policy instruments. Its finding that effects are stronger where green-finance ecosystems are less developed offers a rationale for capacity-building in emerging markets.

📄 Abstract(原文)

The main goal of this paper is to investigate the role of "green finance" in terms of providing sustainable economic development and identify the corresponding macroeconomic instruments that work here. Applying theories of endogenous growth and ecological economics, connecting green investment to technological innovations, transition to clean energy, and sustainable infrastructure and formulating three hypotheses that are estimated on a panel of 40 economies from 2010 to 2023. Based on Fisher-type unit-root and residual-based cointegration tests, economy fixed-effects and clustered standard errors (ARDL-type) panel regression is estimated. It turns out that the relationship is stationary over time: an increase of 10% of the amount of green finance is associated with SRDI growing by 0.034 points in the long-run; issuing green bonds and R&D contribute to the growth of SRDI; approximately 0.55 of disequilibrium is eliminated each year. In economies without a proper green-finance ecosystem, the impact is stronger. Policy implications for central banks, regulators, and fiscal authorities are stated at the end of the research.
