📄 Abstract(原文)
As the global community confronts urgent and interlinked issues of climate change and sustainable development, the countries of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) have become increasingly important in addressing the global challenge of climate mitigation and adaptation. As a significant contributor to carbon emissions and energy demand, BRICS countries are also facing severe ecological and environmental deterioration. However, BRICS countries also have an immense potential to lead revolutionary shifts in global climate governance through mitigating and adapting to climate change. Through a critical analysis of the two pathways of energy transformation and green financing, this chapter examines how the BRICS nations are adapting their economic policies in response to pressing climate goals. The study evaluates BRICS’s ability to lead a worldwide shift to a low-carbon future while balancing the demands of energy security and economic growth by examining the evolving roles of renewable energy and green funding efforts. This study aims to provide significant insights into the complex dynamics affecting energy transition and emphasises the apparent need for developing green finance mechanisms. The future of sustainable development and global climate governance depends on these countries’ capacity to put into place evidence-based policies for energy transition and green finance initiatives. Notably, the United States’ withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and recent addition of Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia to the BRICS framework highlights the significance and necessity of global collaboration. In the upcoming decades, active and inclusive involvement of the expanded BRICS coalition will influence the course of global climate policy and effort.
