English

This study systematically reviews stakeholder perspectives on megawatt charging systems (MCS) for heavy-duty transport decarbonization in Europe, drawing on surveys and interviews from EU projects FLEXMCS and MACBETH. It shows that views diverge due to differing priorities, geographic operational realities, and business models across the value chain, and clusters opinions to identify bottlenecks and gaps for rapid MCS deployment.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

日本のGX文脈において

日本でも商用車の電動化と充電インフラ整備はGX政策の焦点であり、欧州のステークホルダー調整手法は国内の充電網計画やトラック電動化ロードマップ検討の参考になる。

In the global GX context

As global disclosure frameworks increasingly scrutinize Scope 3 transport emissions, this paper informs how charging infrastructure bottlenecks affect corporate decarbonization pathways and transition planning for logistics-heavy sectors.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Abstract Megawatt charging systems (MCSs) are crucial for the decarbonization of heavy-duty transport in Europe and their deployment is massively supported by public authorities and initiatives. However, while MCS is creating hype and gaining momentum as an expected game changer in the long-haul heavy-duty logistics, the stakeholder perspectives and needs are far from unified. The divergence mainly stems from different priorities, geographic operational realities and varied business models, concerning all value chain industrial actors and policy makers. This study provides a systematic review of various stakeholder perspectives collected through surveys and interviews, which have been conducted in ongoing EU projects such as FLEXMCS - Flexible Megawatt Charging Systems, open software architectures, and planning modules creating multi-charger hubs for the European electric mobility system - and MACBETH - Multipoint megAwatt Charging for Battery Electric Truck Hubs . The outcomes serve to cluster opinions and identify potential bottle necks and gaps for a rapid and seamless implementation of MCS in Europe.
