📄 Abstract(原文)

The accelerating climate crisis demands solutions that surpass conventional approaches. As rising temperatures, dwindling resources, and global food insecurity intensify, artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a transformative force capable of reshaping humanity's relationship with the planet. This chapter investigates how AI is driving sustainability across critical domains from optimizing renewable energy systems and designing resilient, low carbon cities to revolutionizing agriculture and enhancing biodiversity monitoring. In parallel, it critically examines the challenges AI introduces, including its significant energy footprint, ethical complexities, and the risk of deepening global inequities. By integrating insights from science, technology, business, and policy, this work envisions a future where intelligent systems do not merely support sustainability but embody it. Ultimately, it asks whether AI can evolve from a tool of disruption into a partner for planetary resilience and argues that the answer will shape the trajectory of both technology and life on Earth.
