A process-based bottom-up LCA compares four electricity sources for a Nigerian carbonated soft drinks plant, modeling cumulative energy demand and global warming potential. Baseline GWP of 21,225 tCO2eq falls 1.6% to 20,893 tCO2eq under 50% solar integration, with modest energy-efficiency gains across fuel types. The study frames renewable investment as a viable green-manufacturing mitigation pathway aligned with ISO 50002.

📄 Abstract(原文)
The study examines and compares four electricity sources as independent variables to develop a green model with two dependent variables: cumulative energy demand and global warming potential for a carbonated soft drinks plant in Nigeria. A process-based, bottom-up LCA scenario methodology was used to assess electricity consumption over a 6-month period. The model analysis was based on ISO 50002 and International Energy Agency (IEA) reports, incorporating energy use, statistical analysis, and simulation modelling. The baseline scenario produced a total Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 21225 tCO₂eq. In the model with 50% solar integration, this decreased significantly to 20893 tCO₂eq, representing a 1.6% reduction relative to baseline values. Under energy efficiency, the baseline produced a total Cumulative Energy Demand (CED) of 12112.54 MWh. In the model with 50% solar integration, energy efficiency improved by 3% for AGO, 0.01% for LNG, and 0.04% for Grid. This demonstrates the empirical impact of green technology in aligning with ISO 50002 standards, highlighting the potential of green manufacturing as a mitigation strategy for carbon emissions and resource depletion. These findings underscore the need for stakeholders to reinforce investment in renewable energy technologies as part of their green manufacturing transition.
